Voiceprint Web Radio interview with Andrea Black

music for your brain

Andy Farley became a DJ because of his severe lack of social/dancing skills. Making terrible electronic music since the 7th grade, his musical tastes have both broadened and deepened with a faster internet connection and compulsive collecting habits. His musical influences vary widely from John Tejada's minimal techno blips to The Chariot's brutal hardcore breakdowns. The focus of his show, DropB, is to present music that sounds like Chicago house played through a broken Super Nintendo...or something like that. He is currently a junior at Northwestern, majoring in Chemical Engineering. These are recordings of his live mixes.

Excerpts from the Andy Frost DVD - The Complete Vocal Percussionist

Chilled out house mixes using Ableton Live.

60 minutes of music for the dark dance floor brought to you by DJ's DarkAngel and NoSleepDamon.
For most episodes we settle on a theme then play off each others selections. We don't always play the latest hits, but there are already many great podcasts that do just that. Instead we focus on what we love and what fits, or purposely doesn't fit, with what the other one just played.
The music genres we play range from Darkwave, Synthpop, EBM, IDM, the many flavors of Noise, Industrial and the list goes on and on - but you get the idea.

Here are some pictures I took during the recording sessions (when I remember I had a camera in the control room, which wasn’t very often).
This is where I’ve spent the last four months of my life.
Tappy and Casey (Baritone II)
Lurch and Stork (Bass)
Stork, wishing I quit with the camera and get on with the recording.
That’s right, drinking beer and Diet Pepsi at the same time.
Phil laying some keyboard tracks.
Steven kneeling before the Angryfolk beer fridge.
Stork, Lurch, Enge and Tappy preparing for some live tracks (and yes, I forgot to plug in a few mics — oops).
Tappy, Jerry, Wes and Steven during the live sessions.
Jerry in the control room, also known as the Boggards and Merry Wives CD stock room.
