Welcome to Version 2
DarkAz 11 months ago	Hi everyone, just a short note to welcome you to the all new Version 2 of The PodLounge. As you can see we've had a bit of a facelift, but rest assured the changes are far from just "cosmetic". Already there's a number of enhanced features available for you to enjoy, with many more being introduced over the coming weeks. A basic overview of the new features follows: Podcast categories - we've introduced a number of new categories already and will continue to add more the need arises - making it easier to find the podcasts you're looking for. You can now also view the categories via the "traditional" tree view or the new cloud view Filetype icons - the new filetype icons make it easy to recognize the types of enclosures for each podcast episode - not just whether they are audio or video, but the specific filetype. Auto Feed Updates - viewing a podcast listing will activate the auto-update feature if it's been a while since the feed was updated, resulting in any new episodes being gathered and displayed without the need to refresh the page. Of course if you're sure there's a new episode available, then you can click on the (check) link to force an update of the podcast [registered loungers only]. New player - [registered loungers only] our new (audio) player, allows full playlist capabilities and can be set to float in it's own window or docked back into the main browser for your convenience. Your playlist is retained to save you having to find the episodes you want to hear next time you log in. New Forums - new look, better speed and more convenient to use thanks to some nifty ajax technologies. Comments - now you can leave comments on any of the podcasts in our directory, directly on the page rather than having to reference back to the forums. Faster Page Loads - we've optmized a lot of the "behind the scenes" workings to bring you the content you want at a faster pace. Part of this includes only listing the 5 most recent episodes of any podcast by default, with the others able to be loaded into the page with a single click. What's Hot - replacing our old "Top Podcasts" is "What's Hot" - rather than an all-time ranking which made the task of getting into the hotlist near impossible for new podcasts, we now analyze what's been the most popular over the past week and provide you with up to date rankings on a daily basis. Voting - [registered loungers only] you can now vote for your favourite podcasts (only 1 vote/podcast/month/user - hope that makes sense) to put them in the running for our "Golden Pod" award. The Golden Pod will be awarded each month for the podcast with the highest number of votes. So come on - show your support for the podcasters you listen to (and podcasters - be sure to tell your listeners to vote for you). MyLounge - [registered loungers only] keep track of all your favourite podcasts using "MyLounge" - simply one click to add a podcast to your lounge where you can easily check which podcasts have been updated since your last visit - all from the one page. We've got many more exciting new features being introduced over the next few weeks, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled (and come back and check this forum). So take a look around, have fun, and remember - we're still in beta stage of the new version, so if you find any glitches or have any suggestions on things we can improve - please let us know. John
